From January 2012 the Department of Transport began issuing the new Blue Badge, which has added security features including a unique hologram, which identifies the badge as genuine, but poses problems with storage of the permit. PVC covers can damage the hologram during times of excessive heat or sunlight exposure, for example on a car dashboard, and the hologram should not rub against any plastic when taking the permit out for inspection.
The design team at Blue Badge Company created a new ‘hologram safe’ design of wallet whereby the hologram is not covered, or rubbed when taken in and out, and the permit will not slip out when displayed or carried. The Timer Clock is safely displayed next to the permit, and can be dialled without removal.
